Imran Khan Supports Corps Commanders’ Call for Stringent Action on May 9 Incidents

Former Prime Minister and Founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has voiced his support for the recent declaration made by the corps commanders’ conference, advocating for strict punishment for those involved in the May 9 incidents.

Speaking informally to journalists at Adiala jail, Khan emphasized the importance of conducting a commission to investigate the May 9 incidents, particularly after retrieving CCTV footage. He clarified that PTI’s stance was not against the armed forces but aimed at seeking justice.

Khan criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan for stripping PTI of its reserved seats for women and minorities, accusing it of undermining democracy and perpetrating injustice against the party’s female members. He alleged electoral fraud and expressed PTI’s intention to peacefully protest against it, emphasizing the party’s democratic right to do so.

Regarding his lack of contact since February 8, Khan stated that he understood the reasons behind it. He also addressed the letter written to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), highlighting the importance of political stability for economic stability and expressing concern over the country’s significant debt repayment burden, which consumes 70% of its finances.

The corps commanders’ conference recently resolved to bring those responsible for the May 9 incidents, including planners and instigators, to justice under relevant constitutional and legal provisions.
