Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has accused India of directly funding and orchestrating a recent terrorist attack on an Islamabad mosque through operatives based in Afghanistan. Speaking at a press conference in the capital, Naqvi laid bare details of the meticulously planned assault that claimed 31 lives.
He emphasized that all perpetrators were arrested by Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies post-blast, with nearly all those involved captured during raids across Peshawar and Nowshera. The Interior Minister outlined how operatives from different terrorist groups worked in tandem, operating from Afghan soil where they received their instructions and funding directly in dollars from India.
Naqvi insisted that the world must confront Indian complicity in this act of terrorism. He said, “India is funding them; India is giving them their targets; India is planning every step for them.” The minister clarified that Pakistan’s law enforcement had not been silent in the face of the attack: by 3 am, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police had arrested key figures linked to the plot.
Naqvi also revealed that the mastermind—an Afghan national associated with Daesh—was in custody and provided detailed accounts of how operatives were recruited, trained, and deployed for the operation. “All planning and training took place in Afghanistan,” he stated.
He underscored Pakistan’s defensive role in countering extremist groups operating from Afghan soil. “If this wall weakens even slightly, others will feel the pain,” he warned. Naqvi emphasized that since May, terrorist budgets had tripled.
To counter Indian propaganda and accusations of security mishaps, Naqvi noted: for every successful attack thwarted, ninety-nine other attempts were stopped. He stressed public vigilance through community intelligence, urging people to report suspicious activities immediately to activate the security system.
The minister also addressed criticisms by acknowledging resource constraints within Pakistan’s security apparatus but maintained that the country remained determined in its fight against terrorism. Naqvi announced upcoming upgrades for Islamabad’s infrastructure and police force, vowing continued efforts toward strengthening national defenses.
“We will close the gaps,” he declared with determination, adding that investigations were ongoing. “Pakistan remains safe, and we will continue fighting.”
