Iran Considers Direct Attack on Israel in 48 Hours, US Issues Travel Advisory

Amid escalating tensions, reports suggest that Iran is deliberating a direct attack on Israel within the next 48 hours, according to sources briefed by Iranian leadership, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The potential confrontation with Israel comes amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, with no end in sight to the violence.

One unnamed official said the attack could include more than 100 drones, dozens of cruise missiles and perhaps ballistic missiles as well and will be aimed at military targets in Israel.

An adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, revealed that strike plans are under consideration, with the Supreme Leader assessing the political risks involved.

The latest escalation follows Iran’s vow to avenge an attack on its consulate in Damascus, Syria, which resulted in the death of a senior Iranian general and six other military officers. While Iran accuses Israel of the attack, Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement.

Acknowledging the heightened risks, the US issued a travel advisory for Americans in Israel, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

The United States has restricted travel for its embassy personnel in Israel amid fears of an attack by Iran.

The US embassy said staff had been told not to travel outside the greater Jerusalem, Tel Aviv or Beersheba areas “out of an abundance of caution”.

Despite the threats, Iran has emphasized its desire to avoid a major escalation of the conflict with Israel and instead seeks retribution while pressing for demands, including a truce in Gaza.
