Iran executed Mehrab Abdollahzadeh on Sunday for involvement in the killing of security officer Abbas Fatemiyeh. The Supreme Court upheld his sentence in late 2025. Mizan, Iran’s judiciary news outlet, reported that Abdollahzadeh confessed to assaulting the officer.
Rights group HRANA quoted an informed source saying Abdollahzadeh was tortured to extract forced confessions. Earlier, two men were executed for spying for Israel, including one accused of gathering intelligence near the Natanz nuclear site in Isfahan province. The judiciary reported that Yaghoub Karimpour and Nasser Bakarzadeh were hanged after being found guilty of intelligence cooperation with Mossad.
