Iran Warns of Ferocious Response to US Attack Threat

Iran would retaliate ferociously against any US attack, sparking fears of regional conflict. The United States warned of potential military strikes on Iran in response to Tehran’s nuclear program talks, which have now resumed in Geneva.

Tehran has expressed its readiness for a deal while asserting that the West misinterprets its civilian nature. Meanwhile, indirect negotiations continue under Omani mediation. Last week, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi warned of regional conflict if Iran faces renewed aggression from Washington.

In an interview with Fox News, US negotiator Steve Witkoff suggested that Iran had not surrendered to American military threats and the deployment of forces in the region.

The protests at universities have once again ignited in Iran, reminiscent of the nationwide demonstrations in January, which saw thousands killed by security forces. Protests flared over economic distress, fueled by sanctions imposed on the country since 2018. Despite acknowledging more than 3,000 deaths from violence, authorities blame “terrorist acts” instigated by the US and Israel.

Fears of escalating conflict have prompted countries like India to order their citizens to leave Iran. The United States ordered its non-emergency personnel to vacate its embassy in Lebanon, home to Hezbollah, which has close ties with Iran.

As indirect talks resume under Omani mediation, concerns grow over renewed aggression from both sides. China warned against the US’s unilateral bullying and use of force in international relations at a disarmament conference held in Geneva. In response, Iranian officials have expressed that their people have never capitulated historically, emphasizing the need for dialogue to resolve disputes.

Protests at universities across Iran once again spread last weekend, with students burning the national flag, chanting “down with the Islamic republic.” The resurgence of these anti-government protests underscores the deep dissatisfaction felt by many in Iran.
