Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has denied reports of his resignation, according to sources close to his office. The denial was echoed by Iran’s official channels and state-affiliated media like Tasnim News. In a video released today on the official presidency website, the 71-year-old reformist politician emphasized his commitment to advancing Iran’s progress and prosperity amid ongoing tensions with the United States.
The rumors of Pezeshkian’s resignation emerged from reported friction between his administration and hardline elements, particularly the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The president has been elected in 2024 as a moderate but often finds himself sidelined on security matters by unelected power centers. Despite these challenges, he insists Iran will not retreat from its core interests and remains open to “dignified” diplomacy.
