Israel’s military intensified its attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Friday, targeting Hezbollah infrastructure. The Iran-backed group claimed direct clashes with Israel’s forces in the country’s south.

The UN refugee agency warned of a deepening humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, risking catastrophe. Lebanon entered the conflict after Hezbollah fired rockets towards Israel following the US-Israeli killing of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on March 2.

Israel responded with large-scale airstrikes and ground operations in the south. An Israeli strike hit Tahouitet al-Ghadir area, killing two people. The NNA reported raids across Lebanon’s south and east, including Saksakiyeh and Bekaa region.

Hezbollah claimed its fighters clashed with Israel forces in villages of Bayada and Shamaa. Weapons, including anti-tank missiles, were found in a school in Khiam.

Over 1,100 people have been killed, and over one million displaced in Lebanon. The UN refugee agency’s representative in Lebanon warned of the risk of humanitarian catastrophe.
