In 2009, Whatcha Say debuted Jason Derulo as a pop icon with groovy appeal. Now, he announces it’s time to bid this persona farewell. However, Derulo plans an epic tour and album titled The Last Dance Tour, marking his biggest ever venture.

The Slow Mo hitmaker explains the upcoming show will be his last as ‘Jason,’ the version fans have grown accustomed to. “It’s my final curtain call for the Jason that you’ve known,” he says in a chat with The U.S. Sun. “But it’s also an appreciation of what has been and an introduction to new directions.”

Derulo, 36, reveals the change is driven by his evolving self over the last decade. “I am now a different person than I was ten years ago,” he says. “Music too changes slowly into something different for me.” He plans this as a retirement of one version and the beginning of another.

The tour will serve as a nostalgic send-off to past Jason, with elements from his history weaving through it all. The second half of the album is set to be a dramatic shift, representing the start of a new chapter in Derulo’s musical journey.
