JetBlue Flight Hit Drone Approaching JFK

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) launched an investigation after a JetBlue flight reported hitting a drone while approaching New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Monday at 7:15am EDT.

The incident occurred around 3,000 feet during the final approach of the Airbus A321 that had departed from Las Vegas.

Pilot Reported Drone Strike

The plane landed without incident and customers deplaned normally. Post-flight inspection found no damage or evidence of collision, according to JetBlue.

This follows a similar incident on Friday when a United Airlines flight encountered a drone during descent into Newark Liberty International Airport.

Port Authority Not Available for Comment

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which manages JFK, was not immediately available for comment.
