Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi emir Munim Zafar has stated that incomplete Red Line Project on University Road is causing inconveniences to citizens.
The project, which began in 2016 with millions of dollars spent on feasibility studies, was supposed to be completed by 2023. However, a new deadline of 2026 has been set for its completion, but this too remains uncertain.
Educational and commercial activities on University Road have been severely impacted due to the Red Line project. Four workers have lost their lives so far in connection with the project.
JI leader Munim Zafar urged the government to restore University Road to its original condition immediately. He also criticized the augmentation of the K-4 project along with the BRT, stating that it is an attempt to enslave people through a feudal system.
The JI will continue to raise its voice for the rights of the people and against the oppressive system, according to Munim Zafar. He emphasized that corruption and mismanagement are at the root of Karachi’s problems, and that the right to live has been taken away from citizens. “Accidents have become a daily routine in the city,” he added.
