K-Electric Collecting Eight Different Types of Taxes from Consumers: Energy Ministry

The Federal Ministry of Energy has acknowledged that K-Electric is collecting eight different types of taxes from its consumers. These details were presented in the National Assembly, revealing the range of tax categories levied on electricity bills.

According to official documents, K-Electric consumers are subjected to four distinct types of General Sales Tax (GST), including GST, Additional GST, Further GST, and Retailer GST. Over the past year, consumers have paid Rs 102.43 billion under regular GST, Rs 3.14 billion as Further GST, and Rs 11.87 billion under Additional GST.

Additionally, Rs 1.83 billion was collected under Retailer GST, while consumers paid Rs 30.26 billion in income tax. Moreover, Rs 610 million was collected under Withholding Net Metering, and Rs 1.15 billion as TV license fees.
