K-Electric Warns of Power Cuts to Sindh Government Departments Over Unpaid Dues

The city’s sole power distributor, K-Electric (KE), has issued a warning to cut off electricity to over three dozen Sindh government departments due to unpaid dues and outstanding bills.

The company sent a letter to the Chief Secretary and Secretary of Energy, informing them that the power supply to 64 departments would be disconnected.

In the letter, KE highlighted that despite eight prior notices, the dues have not been cleared as promised.

Consequently, the company has decided to proceed with power disconnection. KE referenced a 2019 agreement where the Sindh government committed to settling all outstanding dues and new bills, with the Energy Department taking responsibility for payments.

KE has also included a list of the 64 provincial departments and institutions in the letter. The company stated that the process of disconnecting electricity connections for these departments has already begun.
