Karachi Experiences Coldest Morning of 2024

Karachi, on Thursday, encountered its chilliest morning of the year as the mercury plummeted to 14°C, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The dip in temperature is attributed to the influence of north-east winds blowing through the city at a speed of eight kilometers per hour.

The Met Office has not only recorded the cold spell but has also forecasted light rain in Karachi for the day. Additionally, due to a stable atmosphere, dense foggy conditions are expected to persist over Punjab, including Islamabad, the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.

Looking ahead, a rain-bearing westerly system is anticipated to enter Balochistan on January 4th, potentially affecting parts of the region until January 5th, 2024. As a result, various areas in Balochistan, including Chaghi, Quetta, Chaman, and others, are likely to experience light to moderate rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall over hills during this period. The impact of this weather system is expected to extend to the coastal areas of Makran on both January 4th and 5th, enhancing the meteorological dynamics across the region.
