Karachi faces power, water shortages on Eid: Munim

Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Munim Zafar Khan, has voiced concerns over the severe power and water shortages experienced by residents during Eid ul Azha, despite the sweltering heat and humidity.

He criticized the Mayor, Murtaza Wahab, for prioritizing agreements that benefit K-Electric over providing essential utilities to the citizens.

In a press briefing, Khan highlighted that while Jamaat-e-Islami is responsible for managing nine towns in Karachi, ensuring proper sanitation and waste disposal during Eid, the other towns not under their management suffered from inadequate cleanliness.

He emphasized that thousands of Jamaat-e-Islami and Al-Khidmat volunteers worked tirelessly to assist residents and manage waste effectively. Khan further revealed that over the three days of Eid, more than 1,800 animals were sacrificed, with the meat being sent to Gaza via Jordan in tin packs.

He praised the increase in the collection of animal hides compared to the previous year, viewing it as a positive sign of community support.

During visits to various sacrifice centers across the city, including Federal B Area, Saudabad, North Nazimabad, and others, Khan reiterated his support for the oppressed Muslims in Gaza and Palestine. He stated that the sacrifices made by Karachi residents were dedicated to these communities, who have faced immense suffering and continue to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The press conference was also attended by various district leaders and officials, including Secretary Karachi Taufiquddin Siddiqui, Central District Chief Syed Wajih Hassan, and others, who echoed Khan’s sentiments and highlighted the need for improved municipal services in Karachi.
