Karachi Fault Line Active as City Experiences Multiple Earthquakes Over Two Days

Karachi has been rattled by a series of low-intensity earthquakes over the past two days, raising concern among residents as seismic activity continues to be felt across parts of the city.

According to the head of Karachi’s Tsunami Warning Centre, the Landhi fault line became active on June 1 and has since been gradually releasing accumulated energy. “Tremors are likely to continue for another one to two days, but their intensity will steadily decline. Citizens should not panic,” the official advised.

Between June 1 and 2, at least eight tremors were recorded:

  • June 1, 5:30 PM
  • June 2, 1:05 AM
  • June 2, 1:06 AM
  • June 2, 1:28 AM
  • June 2, 10:32 AM
  • June 2, 11:04 AM
  • June 2, 12:17 PM
  • June 2, 1:11 PM

The recorded magnitudes have ranged between 2.0 and 3.6 on the Richter scale, placing them in the category of mild seismic events.

Authorities have reassured the public that the situation is being closely monitored and there is currently no threat of a tsunami.
