Saturday morning’s light drizzle in Karachi provided much-needed relief from the intense heat. However, the wet conditions also led to multiple motorcycle accidents as roads became slippery.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the weather in Karachi is expected to remain humid with partly cloudy skies over the next 24 hours. Drizzle may occur in some parts of the city during morning and nighttime hours.

The maximum temperature in Karachi is forecast to range between 34°C and 36°C, while the minimum temperature recorded on Saturday was 29.2°C. Humidity levels stood at 78%, with southwesterly sea winds blowing at a speed of 11 kilometres per hour.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain accompanied by thunderstorms in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next 24 hours. Most parts of the province are expected to remain under hot and humid conditions.

Dust storms are also likely in the province’s plains during the evening hours. Thunderstorms and rain are expected in Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, and Swabi. Similar weather conditions are also likely in Haripur, Abbottabad, Shangla, Malakand, Upper and Lower Dir, and Chitral.

The Met Office said rainfall is also expected in Buner, Bajaur, Kohistan, Torghar, Battagram, and Mansehra, while thunderstorms may affect parts of Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Kurram, and Orakzai districts. The weather department warned that strong dust-laden winds are likely to affect the province’s plain areas after sunset and advised residents to take precautionary measures.

Rainfall was recorded in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the past 24 hours. The highest rainfall was recorded in Cherat, which received 50 millimetres of rain, followed by Malam Jabba with 16 millimetres and Parachinar with 13 millimetres. Landi Kotal received 5 millimetres of rain, Bajaur recorded 4 millimetres, and Drosh received 3 millimetres. Peshawar, Dir, Kalam, and Mirkhani each recorded 1 millimetre of rainfall.
