The water supply to Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, was suspended on Monday following a massive power breakdown at the Dhabeji pumping station.

According to the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB), all pumps at the station ceased operation due to the outage, resulting in a citywide halt in water distribution.

In response to the situation, all hydrants across Karachi have been closed, further impacting the availability of water in the metropolis.

K-Electric, the city’s power provider, attributed the breakdown to a technical fault, assuring the public that efforts are underway to restore power and resume normal operations at the pumping station as soon as possible.

The Dhabeji pumping station, a critical infrastructure facility in one of the most densely populated cities in the world, remains temporarily out of service, affecting millions of residents.
