KE threatens power cut over unpaid dues at FIA complex

K-Electric has issued a stern warning to disconnect electricity to Karachi’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) complex if outstanding dues, totaling Rs 40 million, are not settled.

The power distribution company has set a deadline of June 20 for the payment, threatening disconnection if the dues remain unpaid by the specified date.

Notably, the complex, housing crucial FIA departments like the Cybercrime Wing and Counter-Terrorism Wing, reportedly has only one commercial meter for its four-storey structure.

This warning comes amid a broader issue of unpaid bills, with K-Electric facing significant financial strain due to outstanding payments from various government entities, including the Sindh government and the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board. If these dues are not addressed promptly, K-Electric warns of potential network failures, leading to prolonged power outages across the metropolis.
