Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, the President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), has tendered his resignation following his announcement of a legal battle against the appointment of Tariq Bugti as the interim president.
Brig (r) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar had previously contested the interim appointment in the Lahore High Court.
Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti, the newly-appointed President of the PHF, assumed office at the federation headquarters in Lahore on December 25, 2023, amidst tight security arrangements.
Khalid Sajjad Khokhar had held the position of PHF President since 2015.
In the wake of Khokhar’s resignation, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar approved the appointment of Tariq Bugti as the new President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation. The notification regarding Bugti’s appointment was received by the Minister of Inter-Provincial Coordination, Fawad Hassan Fawad, on Saturday.
