Khawaja Asif Open to Resignation Amid Jaffar Express Attack Fallout

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has addressed concerns surrounding the Jaffar Express attack, responding to opposition claims that he should be held accountable for the incident.

If resigning resolves the issue, I am ready to resign,” Asif stated, adding that he had no objections to stepping down if it would address the concerns raised.

The attack took place five days ago when terrorists ambushed the Jaffar Express near Dhadar in the Bolan Pass, taking passengers hostage. Security forces launched a large-scale operation to rescue those held captive.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, calling it a “cowardly act of terrorism” and vowing to eliminate all those responsible.

The incident has ignited a debate over security and accountability, with opposition parties demanding that government officials take responsibility.
