Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee in Sindh Assembly, has raised concerns over the federal government’s proposed move to wind down Karachi Dock Labour Board (KDLB), a body established in 1974 and currently employing 2,600 workers. On Wednesday in Larkana, Khuhro expressed his opposition to this plan during a press conference.

Khuhro is also president of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chapter in Sindh. He emphasized that the government’s current stance on the matter represents an anti-labor approach. The chairman highlighted the significant impact such a decision would have; 2,600 families would be at risk of losing their primary source of income if KDLB is shut down.

In response to this development, Khuhro announced his full support for the labor union that has already initiated protests against the government’s proposal. He warned that the closure of KDLB would result in severe hardships for these workers and their families. “The government should prioritize keeping KDLB operational,” he stated firmly.
