Starting in July, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has introduced a municipal tax in K-Electric (KE) bills.
The Municipal Utility Charges and Taxes (MUCT) vary based on electricity consumption:

- 101 to 200 units: Rs 20
- 201 to 300 units: Rs 40
- 301 to 400 units: Rs 100
- 401 to 500 units: Rs 125
- 501 to 600 units: Rs 150
- 601 to 700 units: Rs 175
- Above 700 units: Rs 300
Commercial and industrial consumers will be charged a flat rate of Rs 400. Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated that the revenue from this tax will fund city development projects.
