This announcement followed US strikes earlier in the day against what Washington claimed was an Iranian drone operation threatening US forces and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran confirmed the US attack, stating it targeted a US air base at 4:50 am after an early morning strike near Bandar Abbas airport. The specific location of the base was not disclosed.

Kuwait, which hosts a US air base, did not attribute the threats to Iran. Gulf countries, including Kuwait, experienced missile and drone attacks during the US-Israel war on Iran. Hostilities have largely subsided since April’s ceasefire, though drones have been launched from Iraq towards Gulf nations like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
