Lady Gucci Patrizia Reggiani Faces $23 Million Inheritance After Murder Conviction Ruling

Rome – Patrizia Reggiani, famously known as ‘Lady Gucci,’ could soon inherit a significant portion of her late mother’s fortune. This follows a court ruling in Milan that invalidated the will of Reggiani’s mother, Silvana Barbieri, due to irregularities.

Reggiani was convicted in 1998 for the premeditated murder of her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci, heir to the Gucci fashion house fortune. She served 18 years in prison before being released early in 2016.

The contested will had allocated all family assets to the Fernando and Silvana Reggiani Foundation, managed by former family lawyer Maurizio Enrico Carlo Giani. The court found discrepancies between the notarized document and a recorded hospital meeting held by Barbieri in 2018, leading to the invalidation of the will.

Giani was previously investigated for alleged undue influence over the will’s contents but was acquitted in 2024. The housekeeper testified that Barbieri herself requested the recording for potential future problems.

If Milan’s Court of Appeals upholds this ruling, Reggiani could regain control of her family’s fortune estimated at 20 million euros, including real estate and rental assets in Milan. Despite her conviction, she continues to receive about $1.5 million annually from her ex-husband’s estate due to a prior divorce settlement.

The couple married in 1972 and lived in New York and Milan. Their divorce was finalized in 1994 before Gucci’s murder. The case has been dramatized in Ridley Scott’s film “House of Gucci,” released in 2021, featuring Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci and Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani.”
