Lahore High Court Rejects Land Transfer Petition

The Lahore High Court has dismissed a petition challenging a land transfer, citing an 18-month delay and lack of merit. Justice Malik Waqar Haider Awan delivered a seven-page written verdict rejecting the application filed by Pathani Mai.

The court emphasized that it only aids individuals who act promptly to protect their rights, stating that those who remain negligent cannot be granted extraordinary relief. It also noted that delays in enforcing judicial decisions defeat the fundamental purpose of law and cannot be overlooked without valid justification.

The petitioner had challenged the legality of the land transfer and sought its cancellation. However, the court questioned why the petition was filed after a delay of 18 months. The petitioner failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the delay and could not justify her prolonged silence. The court ruled that the petition was time-barred and did not meet the required legal standards on merit.

The plea was therefore dismissed.
