In Lahore, the Lahore High Court has dismissed three esteemed civil judges over allegations of misconduct—Civil Judge Naseem Akhtar Naz from Lahore, Civil Judge Muhammad Aslam from Rawalpindi, and Civil Judge Sarmad Saleem from Jhelum.

Following a thorough inquiry conducted by Chief Justice Neelum’s session judge, the committee confirmed that these officials had indeed engaged in misconduct. The dismissal was formalized through an administrative committee’s approval, which issued a notification to inform the public of their removal from judicial service.

Chief Justice Neelum appointed a specialized inquiry panel consisting of experienced judges including Session Judge Jhelum. Through meticulous examination, the panel found evidence substantiating claims that Sarmad Saleem had submitted his resignation letter upon returning from leave without taking up his duties anew.

The decision to dismiss these civil judges comes amid ongoing efforts by courts in Pakistan to uphold integrity and uphold the highest standards of professionalism within the judiciary. The High Court’s action sends a strong message to all judicial officers about expected conduct, reinforcing the importance of adhering to professional ethics.

This development underscores the seriousness with which misconduct is addressed across Pakistan’s legal system, aiming to preserve the sanctity and impartiality of the judiciary in service of justice for its citizens.
