RB Leipzig to host Union Berlin in Bundesliga clash
The upcoming match between RB Leipzig and Union Berlin is not just a game but a symbol of the evolving landscape of football. For Leipzig, victory could mean returning to the Champions League after missing it for the first time this season. Meanwhile, for Union, winning would secure their position nine points clear of the relegation playoff.
Coached by Marie-Louise Eta, the first woman to lead a men’s team in a major European league, and with CEO Tatjana Haenni at RB Leipzig, who is the first female club boss in German football history, both teams are setting new standards.
Haenni, a former Swiss international, emphasized the cultural shift towards gender equality in football during an interview, stating that it’s about quality, expertise, and trusting people.
Meanwhile, Eta acknowledged her responsibility but focused on performance rather than gender roles, aiming to be seen as a competent football coach.
With Bayern Munich already crowned champions, teams like Wolfsburg and Heidenheim are still fighting for survival in the relegation playoff.
