LHC Hears Petition on Internet Speed Concerns, Issues Notices to Govt

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on December 11 held a hearing on a petition seeking improvements in internet speeds across Pakistan. Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal presided over the session, initiated by the Judicial Activism Panel.

The court has issued notices to the federal government and relevant authorities, requesting their responses on the matter. The petition highlights Pakistan’s global ranking of 198th in internet speeds, based on data from the World Population Review.

The petition also seeks the removal of restrictions on the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and calls for nationwide improvements in internet connectivity.

The court has asked for replies from all concerned parties to further advance the case.
