Malala Urges Countries to Cut Ties with Taliban Over Girls’ Education Ban

LONDON (Dunya News) – In an urgent appeal, Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has urged global leaders to sever ties with the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. The renowned advocate for girls’ education made her plea during a candid interview on a private television channel.

Malala described the current climate as dangerously precarious, particularly concerning the denial of basic rights to Afghan girls and women. She observed that schools remain closed for female students while they continue their studies clandestinely or through online platforms. “Afghan girls are not giving up,” she stated. “They are forging ahead with education in hidden ways.”

The Taliban’s restrictive measures include prohibiting women from leaving their homes or participating in the workforce, which Malala believes exacerbates the future prospects of Afghan children.

Malala denounced the Taliban’s ban on girls’ education as fundamentally inconsistent with Islamic teachings. She emphasized that no girl should be deprived of her fundamental right to learn under any pretext of religion. “Education is part of faith,” she argued. “The Taliban must understand their religious principles correctly.”

She called upon all countries, including Pakistan and other Muslim nations, to prioritize human rights over diplomatic ties with the Taliban and publicly condemn their actions as un-Islamic.

Malala’s support for Afghan girls remains steadfast. She reaffirmed her commitment to continuing educational initiatives that benefit them directly.
