Police announced the arrest of a man accused of brutally torturing his wife for refusing to return her mahr. The First Information Report (FIR) was registered based on the complaint from the victim’s father, alleging that son-in-law Muhammad Husnain demanded his wife, Iqra Bibi, return two tolas of gold.

The FIR further states that Husnain physically assaulted his wife and recorded a video of the abuse. It also alleges he forced her to drink water-filled canvas shoes as an act of humiliation.

Police claim the suspect was assisted during the assault by his friend, Ejaz, and another unidentified accomplice. The victim managed to escape from the house and informed her father about the alleged abuse, prompting him to approach the police.

Following a preliminary investigation, police arrested Muhammad Husnain after finding sufficient grounds to support the allegations. Further investigation is underway to determine the roles of the other suspects named in the case.
