Prince William urged for financial transparency

The Prince of Wales faces pressure to disclose his financial information as he ascends to the throne. This comes after King Charles’ commitment to transparency, which has been praised by experts.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror: “It was a bit of an own goal by William not to have followed his father’s example about revealing his tax bill until now.”

Charles made his public when he was Prince of Wales, so it looks as if William has been forced to do so. Despite the Palace’s claims of clarity and transparency, only part of the story is being told.

The expert added: “William is a fiercely private man but needs to be more open about his finances. His Duchy is professionally run with officially audited books – there should be nothing to hide.”

She concluded: “He would do himself a favour by being frank about it.”
