Martyred Policemen Honored with Community Prayer in D.I. Khan

In Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan, a somber funeral procession honored five martyred policemen who perished in a fierce encounter with terrorists. The state bestowed full honors on their remains as they lay in vigil at the Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines.

Leading officials from military and police circles, alongside representatives of civil society, political figures, social activists, and close family members, attended the services held to commemorate these fallen heroes. A guard of honor was presented as the coffins were unveiled for a final farewell.

The ceremony unfolded in full state recognition, underscoring the grave loss suffered by their community. After the prayers, authorities transported the bodies back to the policemen’s home districts, where they would be interred with dignity and respect.

This tragic incident occurred on Sunday at Pinyala Police Station within Wanda Badh of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district. The officers, including a Station House Officer (SHO), faced off with terrorists in an exchange of gunfire during their routine patrol duty.

Police sources indicated that the policemen were caught by surprise as they encountered a sudden assault. During the ensuing gunfight, District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Adnan Paharpur Circle was severely wounded.

This devastating loss leaves Dera Ismail Khan grappling with the profound sorrow and strength it must draw from its community bonds to honor these courageous men who gave their lives in service.
