Maryam Nawaz Unveils 50-Acre Punjab Film City in Lahore

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced plans for a 50-acre Punjab Film City in Lahore. The project, set to be developed within the existing Nawaz Sharif IT City, aims to create Pakistan’s first fully integrated “end-to-end” media production hub.

The initiative seeks to advance technology and resources available for film, television, animation, and digital media under one roof. Maryam Nawaz stated that this move is intended to reduce reliance on foreign services for visual effects (VFX) and post-production.

The Film City will feature modern facilities such as state-of-the-art studios, sound stages, post-production labs, and purpose-built shooting sets. Additionally, it will include a central lake, convention halls for international events and award shows, a media trade hub, and film and music schools to foster talent development.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expects the Film City project to generate thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities while boosting sectors like animation, gaming, and digital media. This expansion is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s broader creative economy.
