US President Donald Trump is currently embroiled in a $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC, alleging defamation over how the broadcaster spliced together footage from his speech on January 6, 2021, before his supporters stormed the US Capitol.

The corporation has staunchly maintained that the lawsuit should be dismissed, arguing that Trump’s subsequent reelection disproves any damage to his reputation caused by the alleged defamation.

Brittin’s Rise at Google and BBC

Matt Brittin joined Google in 2007 as head of UK and Ireland before ascending through the ranks to become EMEA president in 2014. He stepped down from this role in 2024, taking up his new position with the BBC starting May 18.
