Water shortages have reached alarming levels: 42% at Guddu Barrage and 29% at Kotri Barrage. The senior minister accuses the Indus River Systems Authority (IRSA) of unfairly reducing Sindh’s water share under the “shortage equalization” policy, which he deems contrary to the 1991 Water Apportionment Accord.
The forced power shutdown by K-Electric at Dhabeji pumping station has exacerbated the situation, leading to significant disruptions in Karachi’s water supply.
