Lionel Messi scored his seventh consecutive World Cup goal, becoming the first player to achieve this feat. Argentina secured a 3-1 victory over Jordan in their Group J match on Saturday.

Mousa Altamari equalized for Jordan ten minutes into the second half. Messi’s 80th-minute free kick secured Argentina’s win and marked his seventh consecutive World Cup goal, surpassing Just Fontaine’s French record of six goals in a row at the finals.

The match saw significant moments as Martinez nearly doubled the lead with an attempt hitting the crossbar. The penalty was awarded after VAR review, successfully converted by Martinez into the corner. Jordan’s Ehsan Haddad set up substitute Altamari for a late equalizer before Messi’s decisive goal sealed Argentina’s victory.
