Meta has introduced Muse Image, its first advanced AI image generation tool for WhatsApp and Instagram. Developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs, this feature allows users to create and edit images using sketches and prompts.
Muse Image is equipped with text-to-image capabilities and offers AI-assisted editing tools and creative presets across Meta’s platforms. Users can also generate AI images based on pictures imported from public Instagram accounts.
Meta states that “People may be able to create content with your Instagram content using AI features at Meta,” adding, “You will not be notified about content created using AI features at Meta.”
Currently available in limited countries, the feature is expected to roll out broadly in the coming weeks. Muse Image now powers over 30 creative effects for Instagram Stories and enables AI image generation within WhatsApp’s Meta AI chats.
Meta has also provided an early preview of its upcoming video-generation model, Muse Video, slated for release soon. This rollout is seen as a major push by Meta to compete against tech rivals like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, expanding the horizon of AI tools in its social media platforms. The company aims to launch such AI image generators for other apps, including Messenger and Facebook.
