Mexico Claims 2 CIA Agents Killed Unauthorised for Local Raid

Mexico’s government has confirmed that two U.S. federal agents killed in a car crash in the northern region were not authorized to participate in operations within Mexican territory. The victims, who were CIA employees returning from dismantling a clandestine drug lab in Chihuahua, had entered Mexico as visitors and with diplomatic passports, respectively.

The Ministry of Security stated that neither agent held formal accreditation for operational activities on national soil and that the government was unaware of any foreign agents planning operations within its borders. The ministry is reviewing the case with local authorities and the U.S. Embassy in Mexico.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum acknowledged federal forces’ involvement, contradicting earlier statements from the Mexican government about no knowledge of such operations or U.S. participation.
