In an escalating case, Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today anchor Savannah Guthrie, has reportedly been abducted from her Arizona residence following her reported failure to attend a church service. After police entered her Catalina Hills home, investigators found blood spatters near the front entrance and discovered that part of a Ring doorbell camera had been removed.
The FBI is investigating a ransom note demanding millions in cryptocurrency allegedly sent to the family. Nancy, 84, was last seen dining with her daughter Annie Guthrie Saturday evening and did not return home. Family members grew alarmed when she failed to answer calls or messages the next morning. Police found her Apple Watch inside the house, and her pacemaker stopped syncing with it around midnight.
Part of Nancy’s Ring doorbell system has also been reported missing, raising concerns about a planned abduction rather than coincidence. Law enforcement officials have not confirmed whether Nancy is alive or if she was abducted, stating that there is no evidence indicating this was targeted specifically against them. Federal agents have since visited the home of Savannah Guthrie’s sister as the inquiry expands.
President Donald Trump has pledged federal assistance and intends to contact Savannah Guthrie directly. Officials are reviewing all leads, including surveillance gaps, in an ongoing investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
