The NAB chairman said he had decided not to take the IMF report seriously, despite its praise for NAB. He added that while the report was unfair toward Pakistan, people did not trust reports issued by Transparency International either. Nazir Ahmad alleged that the IMF, World Bank, and Transparency International form a troika creating pressure against countries they dislike.

NAB officials said the bureau achieved record recoveries of Rs2.962 trillion in the first quarter of 2026, marking a 33-fold increase compared to last year. The recovery included land worth more than Rs2,950 billion and direct recoveries of Rs11.085 billion through plea bargains and fines.
