Naomi Watts defends natural beauty in her 50s

Naomi Watts, in a candid conversation with Bustle, has opened up about her approach to aging gracefully. Now 57, the actress is unequivocal about embracing her natural beauty in her mid-50s. In a lighthearted tone, Watts jokingly mentioned how her peers can accept her “drooping jowls,” a term often used derisively but here as a matter-of-fact observation.

Watts has shed the notion that one must adhere to specific age-appropriate aesthetics. Over the years, she has come to understand what feels right for her and is sticking with it now. She expressed, “I don’t want to look 25 anymore or like someone who’s fighting to look 25.”

The actress also shared more about why she hasn’t undergone cosmetic procedures. Watts explained that she lacked the motivation to do so, merely wanting to represent herself authentically. She humorously remarked, “For now, I hope other people around me can tolerate my drooping jowls because right now I don’t want to go under the knife.”

While acknowledging those who have chosen to undergo facelifts, Watts made it clear that she doesn’t judge them. Reflecting on her personal journey, she stated, “I certainly would never judge those who do it.” Her position is nuanced but distinct; she remains ambivalent about the topic for now.

Watts’ approach serves as a poignant reminder to celebrate the unique beauty of every individual, regardless of age or societal pressures.
