NEPRA Approves Rs5.75 Per Unit Hike in K-Electric Tariffs

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a substantial increase of Rs5.75 per unit in electricity rates for K-Electric consumers. The hike, announced on Wednesday, is the result of the monthly fuel price adjustment (FPA) for May.

For the month of May, the electricity tariff will rise by Rs2.59 per unit, with an additional Rs3.16 per unit increase for June. These adjustments will be reflected in the electricity bills issued in October and November.

The regulatory authority confirmed that this price hike will impact all lifeline customers, including those using electric vehicles, affecting a broad spectrum of consumers across Karachi. NEPRA stated that these adjustments are essential to keep pace with the fluctuating fuel costs used in power generation.
