Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered military strikes on targets within Beirut’s Dahiyeh district, a stronghold for Hezbollah.

This decision follows repeated ceasefire violations by Hezbollah and attacks against Israeli cities and citizens. The IDF was instructed to target terrorist sites in the Dahiyeh area, according to a statement from Netanyahu’s office.

Since mid-April, Israeli troops and Hezbollah have engaged in ongoing conflict, with the latter using kamikaze drones that pose significant challenges for Israel’s air defenses. These attacks have resulted in numerous casualties on both sides.

The conflict has been exacerbated by the broader Iran war, leading to over 1.2 million Lebanese displaced since March 2. The fighting has claimed more than 3,370 lives, with Israeli forces reporting 24 soldiers and four civilians killed. Thousands of Israelis have also been evacuated from northern regions due to rocket and drone attacks by Hezbollah.
