Netflix Drops MJ Docuseries as Biopic Runs in Theatres

A new docuseries on Netflix titled ‘Michael Jackson: The Verdict’ is set to release on June 3. Directed by Nick Green and executive produced by Fiona Stourton, it explores the 2005 trial in which Michael Jackson was acquitted of all charges.

The filmmakers explained their decision to revisit this period as they felt it was the right time to delve into the lingering questions surrounding the trial. Despite being found not guilty, the stress from the trial reportedly lingered with Jackson even after his death in 2009.

Interestingly, the release date of the docuseries coincides with ‘Michael’, a biopic starring Jaafar Jackson, which is still running in theaters and inching closer to reaching the billion-dollar mark. This has led social media users to speculate about the deliberate timing of the trailer’s release.
