Nine people have died and 13 wounded following the second school shooting in Turkey within days. Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci announced this on Wednesday, stating “We regret to report nine deaths (…) and 13 wounded. Six of them are currently in intensive care, three of whom are in critical condition.”
The attack occurred in Kahramanmaras province where a 13-year-old student opened fire earlier in the day, killing a teacher and three students before being killed himself. The attacker was identified as an eighth-grade student who was also the son of a former police officer.
The school shooter carried five guns and seven magazines, which were believed to belong to his father. Four of the wounded are in serious condition undergoing surgery. Justice Minister Akin Gurlek has launched an immediate investigation into the incident.
