Not Government’s Role to Run Businesses: Abdul Aleem Khan

Addressing a gathering at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce, Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment, and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for business growth through privatization initiatives.

“It is not the government’s role to engage in or manage businesses,” emphasized Abdul Aleem Khan, underlining the administration’s focus on facilitating the business community.

Highlighting the significance of a robust business sector for national prosperity, the minister emphasized that fostering a thriving business environment ultimately benefits the common citizen.

Abdul Aleem Khan unveiled the government’s plans to privatize 24 state-owned institutions, with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) topping the priority list. He pledged transparency in the privatization process and revealed that several major business groups have already expressed interest in acquiring PIA.

“Several major business groups have shown interest in the privatization of PIA,” he stated optimistically.

Moreover, Abdul Aleem Khan underscored the pivotal role of chambers of commerce in promoting investment and economic growth. He affirmed his commitment to collaborating closely with the Chamber to cultivate an investor-friendly environment conducive to economic development.
