The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced an increase in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices. The new maximum rate will be Rs304.12 per kg from April 1, 2026.

This adjustment affects both locally produced and imported LPG. Under the new rates, a standard 11.8kg domestic cylinder costs Rs3,588.59, while the producer price is set at Rs3,101.25 per cylinder.

The increase in global energy prices and Middle East tensions have been cited as reasons for this hike. The LPG Distributors Association warns of further increases, suggesting potential rises of up to Rs100 per kg within weeks. Prices could even reach Rs500 per kg, with domestic cylinders potentially increasing by up to Rs1,000.

Officials note that global LPG prices have already risen by $238, adding pressure on domestic rates and potentially triggering inflation.
