Over Rs 12 Billion Electricity Theft Unveiled in Pakistan

A staggering revelation of electricity theft amounting to Rs 12.48 billion has surfaced in Pakistan for the year 2024.

The Ministry of Energy presented detailed reports on electricity theft to the National Assembly, exposing the massive scale of the issue. According to official documents, Rs 5.83 billion has been recovered from electricity thieves, and 216,000 FIRs have been registered in connection with the theft.

During the anti-theft campaign, 62,452 individuals involved in electricity theft were arrested. Additionally, as part of initial measures to combat the issue, a Dedicated Service Operations (DSO) unit has been established at PESCO to address electricity theft more effectively.
