The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a new initiative aimed at helping overseas Pakistanis keep their mobile SIM cards active and protected from deactivation during extended stays abroad.

In a statement shared on social media, the PTA said the move is part of its efforts to ensure uninterrupted telecom services for Pakistani citizens living overseas. Under the initiative, overseas subscribers can safeguard their SIM cards by notifying their respective mobile operators and paying the applicable charges for a defined period.

The authority said the facility allows expatriate Pakistanis to retain ownership of their mobile numbers, maintain continuous access to telecom services, and remain connected with family and contacts in Pakistan.

Guidelines for Subscribers

For prepaid users, the PTA has advised that SIM cards must be used at least once every 180 days. Subscribers can keep their connection active by making a call, sending a text message, or using mobile data within this period.

Postpaid customers have been instructed to ensure timely payment of monthly line rent and any outstanding dues to avoid service suspension.

The PTA reiterated that the initiative is designed to provide convenience and continuity for overseas Pakistanis, particularly those who rely on their local numbers for personal and official communication.
