Pakistan has formally completed all legal requirements to finalise a dual
nationality arrangement with Germany, allowing citizens to hold both
Pakistani and German citizenship, according to a public notice issued by
the Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin.

With the completion of these formalities, Germany has now been added to the
list of countries with which Pakistan maintains a dual nationality
agreement. As a result, Pakistan-origin residents in Germany applying for
German citizenship will no longer be required to renounce their Pakistani
nationality.

The embassy said the development marks a significant step for the Pakistani
diaspora in Germany, easing long-standing concerns related to citizenship
status and legal identity.

The notice further stated that details regarding the procedure for
reclaiming Pakistani nationality will be shared soon for those
Pakistan-origin German nationals who had previously renounced their
Pakistani citizenship.

The move is expected to benefit thousands of overseas Pakistanis living in
Germany by offering greater legal security and flexibility, while
strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
